Ever wondered if MAP fertiliser toxicity was worse with smaller canola seed? These GRDC results suggest no difference, however the improved establishment from larger seed helped compensate for some of the losses. GRDC North @NSWDPI_AGRONOMY GOA Barry Haskins

Using a single disc seeder? On average, there was a 17%, 28% & 37% reduction in canola establishment as MAP increased from 50, 100 and 150kg/ha compared to Nil MAP. Be aware of your SBU%. GRDC North @NSWDPI_AGRONOMY

Results highlighting the benefit of sowing large diameter seed as canola seed depth increases. Key points * biggest gains in est% came via removing <1.6mm seed * large seed = larger cotyledons = quicker biomass production GRDC North @NSWDPI_AGRONOMY GOA Barry Haskins
