Immature Hobby at Coward Reedbed, marburypatch this morning. Cheshire & Wirral Ornithological Society


Bittern hide Hobby paid a great visit today but was mobbed by 5 magpies Cheshire & Wirral Ornithological Society marburypatch



Explored some of the lesser visited areas of marburypatch this morning and was pleased to find a couple of roosting Woodcock (7 seen in total), along with a pair of Stonechats, 3 Fieldfare (scarce recently), 34 Skylarks, and 10 grounded Pinkfeet.

6 Scaup (4 Drakes) found on Budworth Mere marburypatch this morning by Greg Baker They were unfortunately flushed by sailing club dinghy but relocated to Pickmere

The easterly winds brought 4 early Little Gulls still in winter plumage to Budworth Mere marburypatch this morning found by John Gregory Also present were around 10 Sand Martins


Nice pair of summer plumage Black-necked Grebes found on Budworth mere yesterday by David Bedford also present were 3 Little Gulls and 2 Sand Martins marburypatch



Up to 3 Grasshopper Warblers are currently holding territory around the Witton Flashes marburypatch and this one was on show at Haydn's Pool yesterday.

This Hobby spent a while on Ashtons Flash today perching up in between hawking for dragonflies marburypatch



Cuckoo on Ashtons Flash today also present was the Hobby and Marsh Harrier marburypatch


4th record of Cattle Egret marburypatch found this morning by Lizzie on Neumann’s. Flew off then reappeared later in the day on Stilt Island with 2 Little Egrets and a juvenile Avocet



This Hobby has been seen on Ashtons Flash for the last few days hunting dragonflies to build up its reserves before heading south for the winter marburypatch
