Really weird Next.js behavior that I can't figure out: We have one single feature in the new app router. For some reason, adding the app router makes just one of our pages routes do a full refresh when it's visited. There is *no* relationship between the two features. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Since the last time I evaluated Fly.io, it has matured considerably (including SOC 2 certification, which is critical for me). I won't be using it for production apps just yet, but it is, to my knowledge, far and away the best way to deploy proofs of concept APIs. 💯

I totally forgot about this, but I built a goal-tracking app using Toggl's API 10 years ago when all I knew was WordPress. I'm surprised such an obvious enhancement wasn't built in sooner. Better late than never, I suppose.

In 2014, when I was still a WordPress consultant, I helped put on a WordCamp in my home town. I introduced our keynote speaker, and in my intro, I opined that WordPress people were good people. That didn't seem to age well. Gotta say, I'm glad I went another direction soon after.

A compelling potential use case for the amazingly affordable new Mac Mini: A spare computer running in "computer use" mode doing automated assistant work while you use your primary computer.

A possible future: desktop applications will begin to have "AI interfaces", so that AI can perform automated tasks without having to do all the pointing and clicking. The "computer use" paradigm – where an AI uses a computer like a human, is a silly, inefficient stopgap.

I got really into progressive metal this year. I'm especially excited to see the rise of Spiritbox, with multiple Grammy noms, a forthcoming album and headlining tour, and consistently trending here on X. Go courtney laplante™️, et al! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 #SpotifyWrapped2024

MCP server use on desktop is just too compelling. If OpenAI doesn't make it work in ChatGPT soon, my team is almost certainly going to switch to Claude.

Not quite sure MCP integration in ChatGPT (web) is ready for primetime. Just tried adding a remote MCP (@Todoist) and ChatGPT was duplicating task creation calls. Using the Todoist MCP in Cursor works perfectly (and with less noise).

In this new age of agents, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to allow myself to step away from my computer without having set up some agents to do work while I'm away.
