Great to see this preprint from Georgia Tsambos out! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

The next decade should be an exciting time for interdisciplinary research in genetics, archaeology & history. However this dialogue is also fraught with misunderstanding, and in some cases has had a rocky start. I discuss some of the problems here: books.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/propylaeum/cat…

It's time to make it official. After over 5 years at @UU_University working with an incredible team at Human Evolution Research Program Uppsala, I'm now looking for new adventures, keeping in mind all the outstanding projects I had the opportunity to be involved, the friends that I met, and the cold winters.

Happy to share that our research on the genomic impact of Seychelles Paradise Flycatcher's near-extinction is now published in MBE!🧬Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution This project was part of my undergraduate at LCG UNAM, guided by the incredible Hernán Morales at Globe Institute tinyurl.com/5f5f9rmm

Bringing Starships 🚀 to the people: our new workflow for finding giant transposons is out! We used starfish on a kingdom wide 🍄database and found 100s of Starships in 100s of species.. and that's just scratching the surface: doi.org/10.1093/nar/gk… Aaron Vogan

Don't miss symposium 8, Clustering of human cohorts beyond race and ancestry: Towards relational thinking in genomics on Monday 11:30-13:20 Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution #SMBE2024 in Las Pilitas moderated by myself and Dr. Maria A Nieves-Colón. We are looking forward to some thought-provoking content featuring:

The honorable mention for the MBE Best Student Paper award this year goes to Georgette Femerling for her article, Genetic Load and Adaptive Potential of a Recovered Avian Species that Narrowly Avoided Extinction buff.ly/485dYaP Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution #science #evolution #smbe2024

I'm beyond thrilled to be able to officially share that I've accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Population Genetics at Université de Montréal (Université de Montréal) in the Department of Biology. 🚀🚀🚀 So excited to be coming back home to Montreal, Canada 🇨🇦♥️
