Local scale hydrological forecasting benefits hugely from global scale information. And vice versa. It’s a two-way street 🔁. At #AGU23 today Katie Facer-Childs presents examples from UKCEH research and how it feeds into World Meteorological Organization #HydroSOS agu.confex.com/agu/fm23/meeti… Katie Facer-Childs

The floodplain is very much in use by the Thames in #Wallingford today! Levels now above 2007 levels according to the bridge markers and I expect more to come!

A few pics from drone flights over the Thames yesterday and today. The peak was overnight in area between Abingdon and Wallingford and early this am at Goring. Love the mixing of the muddy Ock with the Thames at Abingdon. check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/station/7100

Great to see this published after seven years! Trends in extreme low flows, using near-natural catchments to discern climate-driven trends - on four continents! Led by Glenn Hodgkins USGS, many international friends as coauthors (mostly not on here) agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Flash droughts - a hot topic (so to speak) but most detailed studies are from drier countries. Open for discussion, our effort led by Ivan Noguera-Corral (bringing experience from 🇪🇸) to quantify FDs in a more humid (!) setting 🇬🇧 egusphere.copernicus.org/preprints/2024…
