It's not all benches, fountains, bandstands and railing repairs here at Lost Art - for those of us who always wanted to be a train driver - we got to work with some special ones, even if we had to move them ourselves!

The biggest jigsaw we have completed - without a picture on the box too - a Boulton & Watt rotative beam engine, in several hundred pieces (including some irrelevant ones & missing some important ones). We restored it, reinstalled it in Dundee & won an Engineering Heritage Award.

In the past 2 weeks, we submitted expert surveys and condition reports on a historic city landmark & a cherished park feature. These will hopefully guide future restoration efforts. If you have a project in mind & need help assessing feasibility, methods & costs, get in touch.

Just off to the foundry, the patterns for replacement gates damaged in an accident. The new castings will be a replica of the Victorian originals, so once they have been installed, we will check on them eveery 150 years or so! Feet for scale!

With all the focus on visitors to Windsor - we hope some of them took the time to admire the bandstand there that we designed, produced and installed as a 90th Birthday present for our late and much missed Queen Elizabeth II - who reportedly did like a bandstand!

Full size exact replicas of Crimean War cannons used in the Battle of Sebastapol and later presented to the local regiment in recognition of their heroism. The originals were lost in the 1960s, our work is now overlooking the River Ribble, guarding Preston against attack.

Our benches will act as a fine memorial to a life deserving of commemoration - and more important;y, they will be a lasting memorial. Do get in touch if you wish a long-lasting tribute to someone sadly missed.

With Handsworth being featured in the news, we were reminded of our work there - reproducing some historic gates and supplying some of our Bassenthwaite benches that matched the original installations.

Nice to take a trip to St Helens and see the bandstand we restored in Victoria Park is looking good! Also, good to see that our Heskin bench is in good condition and has been well maintained - there's a good few in the park! Built to last!!

We were delighted to see that Hull has been rated as one of the top destinations to visit for 2026 - we would like to think that our work there has helped - and there's still more to come!!

Back in St Helens! Apparentnly The Mansion House is currently closed and up for sale. As part of the deal, you would get 6 of our Sunflower Benches in the subken garden and outside the Orangery - that's got to be a bargain!!

While binge watching The Hack on ITVX it was interesting to see (to us at least) the scenes in Dulwich Park where you could see several of our Cartmel Benches - well you would hope so - we have sent over 100 there - they seem to like them!

You have to appreciate a nice bench - even if it's not one of yours!! These decorative benches can be found at stations on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and again at the Ravenglass - Eskdale Railway - along with steam trains - wonderful!!

Our cast iron urns in Mesnes Park, Wigan are replicas of the delicate terracotta originals, recreated from fragments found in storage. Currently looking good with a seasonal floral display!

Wigan artist David Barrow has immortalised some of our work in his own distinctive style - available as paintings, posters, and cards - we were rather taken with his Park Collection of coasters - including his view of the bandstand being put to good use! Christmas is coming!!
