Looking forward to hosting Squirrels CC for the 5th time on Friday. First fixture was 2018, two since then haven’t taken place, 2020 (Covid) and 2023 (Rain).

Great start to the LSCC Cricket Week 2024. Monday saw a win for the Overs v the Unders in the 3rd inter club matchup. A brilliant Parents v Kids evening took place on Tuesday. Today will be Day 3 of our junior camps!

Last night, we defeated Moulton Harrox CC in a close run T20 played in wonderful spirit. The visitors posted 142-3 but in reply, it was Paul Edgeller and Cally Bird marshalling the chase as they got home with a couple of overs left!

2nd XI picked up another victory as they set Market Deeping CC 🏏 202 at Paradise Field. Thilina (52) and Philip Barnes (42) the highlights. In response, Hansana (4/19) and Ed (2/28) set the tone before Aron john (3/9) and inverob116 (1/22) completed the job, Deeping all out for 89

In the reverse fixture, 1st XI posted a competitive 256 with 50s from Nathan and Paul Edgeller along with other notable contributions down the order. In response, Jake Burton (3/37) and DK (2/29) had Deeping in trouble but an unbroken 9th wicket stand saw them home!

Sunday 2s put up 201/5 in 40 overs with Paul Rushen making an unbeaten 65 but it was Eranda (116) who made a 3rd LSCC 💯 of the year. In reply, Snettisham CC completed a 9 wicket victory in less than 19 overs Aarav the only wicket taker!

A tough loss for the 1s saw them inserted by Bourne in bowling friendly conditions and were duly bustled out for 80. Josh Baker top scored with 26 before he took an early wicket but didn’t spark a collapse as Bourne Cricket Club rushed home!

A brilliant win against high flying Thornham for the Sunday 2s yesterday saw them post 204/8 having been asked to bat. Paul R with back to back 50s (60) with other contributions from top order. Wickets were shared in the chase as they restricted visitors to 193/7 in a thriller!

Tough day for the 2s on the road versus a strong Ancaster CC 🏏 side as they amassed 314/5. In reply there were contributions from Daniel Plant (36), Philip Barnes (29*) and Thilina (28) but they were bowled out for 147.

1s travelled to Grantham Cricket Club with them restricted to 322/3 (could have been a lot more), spinners DK, JJ and Cally Bird taking a wicket. In reply, they battled to 160 with JJ too scoring at the top of the order!

Brilliant win for the 2s against Orton Park CC on Saturday. Visitors set 217/9 with Baz (3/17) and Aarav (2/18) the standouts. In reply, a 2nd wicket stand of 137 between Tim Norris (83) and Dinesh (60) broke the back of the chase as victory was secured inside 34 overs!

Sunday 2s travelled to Grimston Cricket Club and posted 126 (Luke 38, Howard 26). An early 3fer from Steven made things interesting but hosts got over the line 5 down to set up a thrilling final day in the league!

A historic day for the 2s saw an opening stand of 312 from Aron john and Rajan. Rajan making a maiden century (101) but Aron stealing the show with a remarkable 192. In reply, Spalding could only manage 130 with wicket shared, Steven 3/18 the pick.

On the road, the 1s put up a determined effort to reach 222, Cally Bird and DK both making 35, contributions elsewhere. In reply, Paul Edgeller and Eranda picked up wickets but wasn’t enough against champions elect. Other results meant that relegation was also confirmed!

The Saturday 2s rounded out their season will another quality display v Heckington Cricket Club 1889. Aron john (116*) and Luke Barnes (61) set up the sides 231/1 before the skipper, 3/23, led the way with the ball also. 2 each also for Callum John and inverob116.

At Paradise Field, captain won an important toss as Nettleham CC were asked to bat, dismissed for 91, 3fers from DK, Paul Edgeller and Josh Baker. In reply, a few got starts but Paul Edgeller (22*) saw the side home to complete a 4 wicket win!

With final fixtures in the division next Saturday, the 2s could finish as high as 4th, as low as 6th, which would be a brilliant achievement for a side playing at this level for the first time in recent memory.

Another close run defeat for 1s brings the season to a close as they frustratingly allowed Spalding to get to 188, skipper Jake Burton the pick with 3/13. In reply, DK (59) and Jake Burton (27) had a stand of 90 but fell in quick succession as were dismissed for 154

It was also brilliant to see 13yo Ellis Redden make his debut for the 1st XI, bowling a couple of good overs, fielding superbly and getting off the mark with a lovely drive! Nice to see DK finish his UK stint with a 50 and 2fer as well!
