Per 82 games, last three seasons: Mason Marchment: 22G - 29A - 51 PTS Evander Kane: 32G - 25A - 57 PTS Kane's $5.125MM cap hit is pretty close to Marchment's $4.5MM cap hit, and the term is the same. Kane has more injury history, and his partial NTC reduces trade opportunity.

In other words, I'd estimate that a) the Marchment trade return is probably more than the Oilers would get in a Kane deal but b) they can probably get something for Kane without retaining money, if they decide to do so.
