I want to encourage all the burgeoning #theatre scholars out there to consider studying/researching theatre, drama, & performance in the medieval era. There’s so much to uncover and your fellow medievalists are just some of the most lovely people!!

Be sure to catch the performances of the Mostly Medieval Theatre Festival! These performances are fun, engaging, and—like medieval theatre—happening in public spaces that aren’t theatres! #kzoo2023

Look, I love the Bard as much as anyone, but let’s be real: #Theatre in all its forms is a social collective—a summation of parts—that is/was designed to address social issues via storytelling. I 100% support this series, but let’s not pretend such an aim was invented by Shax

Smh: Of the 20 most-produced high school plays, only one is by a woman (D.W. Gregory’s Radium Girls). Musicals fare a little better, with Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Nell Benjamin, Tina Fey, Tina Landau, Lynn Ahrens, Jeanine Tesori, and ABBA on the list. schooltheatre.org/2023-play-surv…

In few other professions does the means of production equate to the literal body of the laborer. Remember: “the show must go on” always benefits the producer more than the performer.

Another regional theatre goes dark permanently. The post-covid world has revealed a lot of cracks in professional #theatre models in the US. Something needs to change. The way we produce theatre must change, esp. for local theatres like Triad Stage greensboro.com/news/local/tri…
