Shout out to americanair the last few times I’ve flown, a crew member has offered free snacks, drinks, etc as a thank you for my military service without me saying a word. Pretty awesome. Thank you. It’s the little things, like that cheese plater, that count.

Today, I learned from a few vet bros on X that I’m not a “combat veteran.” Guess the other 90% of us in our respective combat zones were just LARP’ing it the whole time. Forget the other phases of combat or the DoD and VA definitions.

And then one day come and you have to reach out to a solid surface to pull yourself out of a kneeling position. Today was my day.

Today I had the realization that at some point I started referring to people as young woman or young man, such as “that young woman over there told me to come talk to you.” This is how it starts isn’t it?

Wow, the anti-woke sentiment during the first 30 min of the #MacysParade. People don’t realize it takes some time for the floats and bands to cross the start line and get to the main stage. They didn’t get what they wanted immediately so took to the internet to whine.

My adult daughter still uses me as tech support, but I realized she teaches me how to use all the features on my phone and most apps, so yeah I guess it evens out.

Thank you to the random act of kindness from a fellow motorist who pulled up beside me to let me know my eggs were on my roof. These are farm fresh, and I would have hated to lose them on the highway.

Shout out to PetSmart in Potomac Yard. Coming back to town and need some crickets for Camo. Store had just closed, but an amazing employee ran in and gave me a dozen crickets so my little guy didn’t go hungry.

No one knows how important a refrigerator light is until it goes out. I don’t even know what’s in there right now.

Running for me is the understanding that no matter how much you train or not train (I do both), the race is more mental than physical. Finishing is winning.
