I’m proud to share the exciting news that all undergraduate students from households earning $75,000 or less will be able to attend any UMass campus tuition-free starting next fall: bostonglobe.com/2024/10/29/met… @umassamherst @umassboston @umassd @umasslowell #umass #highered (1/4)
Never seen RNA structures like these before. Congrats to Rachael Kretsch and rest of team biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Congrats to the Mammoth Biosciences team on achieving efficient muscle editing with the ultracompact #CRISPR nuclease NanoCas, an important breakthrough that paves the way for curing a wide range of genetic diseases! A nice overview from Science Magazine here: science.org/content/articl…
How sturdy are base pairs near the ends of #RNA hairpins? Perhaps not as stable as one might think, esp. when there are bulges near and far. Led by Bou-Nader lab in Nature Communications, we describe complete structures of #HIV #TAR RNA and its dynamic excursions.nature.com/articles/s4146…
How to find fantastic new #RNAs? The J2 antibody is the gold standard to detect, map & enrich dsRNAs. Co-led by Bou-Nader lab, Kevin Juma, Ankur Bothra & Steve Leppla’s lab, we visualize how J2 recognizes dsRNA and define its epitope, specificity & bias. doi.org/10.1101/2025.0….
A baby named KJ, who was born with a rare genetic disorder – CPS1 deficiency – is healed thanks to doctors at the Children's Hospital who administered the world’s first personalized gene-editing treatment. The research team used base editing, a gene-editing method invented by HHMI
