A joyous Sunday going through latest proofs of #ChangingHistoriesKS3 Bk 2 (Yr 8) 'Expanding Worlds.' A tinge of sadness tho, as I re-read the glorious writing of Nicolas Kinloch, who died a year ago, and whose chapters we're honoured to publish posthumously. Just look at this:

Joanne Harris NATRE Dr Richard Kueh keynote was really helpful for this! We need to think of the learning journey of the child this starts with primary! We’ve got some amazing primary teachers and leaders who are experts in their pedagogy, we can enthuse pupils this way from an early age! #REChatUK

Coming to the party late ( been at work event!) but a key message from Dr Richard Kueh is seeing the curriculum (all subjects) through a reading lens. It’s made me think much more about the foundations we lay at primary and how they support reading/literacy. #REchatUK

‼️📣 Edu announcement: I’ve been selected by Rt Hon Nicola Murray MP to lead the Fast Accelerated Local Leaders (FALL) team. ⬇️This takes the work of the RISE teams in a new direction. 💥Expect to see: FALL in standards FALL in improvement FALL in quality FALL in accountability

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Rest in peace, Dawn. We miss you

📣New post! 👡Time for Cinde-RE-lla to go to ball? 🧩Religion today is complex. Intelligent RE prepares pupils to engage 🌍Curriculum diversity? RE is inherently diverse 💭RE injects wisdom, sensitivity & reflection into world asking BigQs: eg AI💻 & living well together🖖

A really thoughtful and well written article by Dr Richard Kueh in Tes today. Clearly sets out the problems of RE as a Cinderella subject, but also recognises the incredible possibilities that come with high quality RE

Dr Richard Kueh (@knowledgerich) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Thanks for engaging! Though I agree, whether or not RE should be in Nat Curric is just part of the issue. It’s the absence of either nationally-agreed content or statutory basic standard that leads to lots of variability in what pupils get in RE, in the worst possible sense.

"In this book, you will learn both British & world stories, but ones which start in different places and often change lanes." Weaving a history curriculum is hard. But with great history teachers & historians, it can be done. Welcome to #ChangingHistoriesKS3 Year 8. Out in June.

Today, when these beauties arrived, I realised that this is the 70th booklet that #OpeningWorlds has written. Just 2 more to go & KS2 will be complete. Nearly 300 primary schools around England now get children reading at least 800 words a lesson of this gorgeous stuff.
