Why is the Department of Energy giving massive subsidies to transport plastic from PA to IN so it can be burned at a steel mill that is already one of the biggest polluters in the country? This project is a financial loser and an environmental justice nightmare.

I'm not smart enough to decipher whether AES Indiana's long series of mess-ups are helping or hurting my bills at this point

How can power plant operators make money when their plant's electricity isn't competitively priced? Easy! If you're a #monopoly utility, just bill your captive customers to subsidize the market losses! nrdc.org/resources/unec…

Would it be cheaper to operate Edwardsport IGCC as a gas plant instead of gasifying coal? Duke witness: "Yes, it would." So why is Duke operating it as an IGCC, which is more than $60 million per year more expensive in O&M alone? 🤔

Indiana’s jobs increasingly don’t pay the rent. 14 of Indiana’s 20 most common occupations now pay median wages that are less than what a full-time worker needs to afford a modest two-bedroom rental home at the state’s average fair market rent, up from 9 occupations in 2022.

I concur. Well said ⁦Trish Demeter⁩ “making it easier to build renewable sources such as solar and wind is a smart, reliable, forward-thinking economic strategy that aligns with technological innovation and the interests of controlling consumer costs.” ibj.com/articles/trish…

Aluminum is a key ingredient in clean energy tech. But the ubiquitous metal is very dirty to make. In my two-part Canary Media project, I look at the high-stakes quest to decarbonize this essential material. Today’s piece takes us to eastern Kentucky 1/ canarymedia.com/articles/clean…

Archer Daniels Midland, which has the only operational EPA Class VI permits, leaked CO2 into unauthorized underground formations, then failed to follow emergency response and remediation plans. ADM kept it secret for nearly 6 months. wthitv.com/news/adm-carbo…

ADM and the EPA continue to keep the details of this incident hidden from the public. We cannot trust CCS operators to protect host communities, follow the terms of their permits, and be open and honest about CCS impacts when it conflicts with their profit motive.

Over widespread community opposition, DOE is forcing this dirty boondoggle onto Hoosiers. It's "the poster-child of shifting the economic and environmental risks onto the back of the public to enrich the few at the expense of the many" per Kerwin Olson indianacapitalchronicle.com/briefs/controv…

NIPSCO is proposing a $45 per month, or $543 per year, rate increase by 2026 in a new rate case filing. The last 3 Indiana utilities to file a rate case -- NIPSCO, Duke, and CenterPoint -- have each requested $45+/month residential bill increases. iurc.portal.in.gov/docketed-case-…
