While all eyes were on the New York Marathon, the annual marathon in Istanbul was also taking place, where NN Running Team runner Victor Kiplangat clinched the title on his marathon debut with a time of 2:10:18. In New York, Abdi Nageeye and Kenenisa Bekele finished 5th and 6th.
