Political purges of court employees are beyond the pale. Four or five justices secretly voting on court matters without the court actually meeting breaches universal judicial norms. This abuse of power is unprecedented and illegitimate. It should be condemned by all judges.

Justice David Prosser administered the judicial oath to me on July 29, 2016 as his last official act. He was a scholar of the law, a true gentleman, and one of the kindest people I have ever known. It was a privilege to serve with him. May he rest in peace. ✝️

America "stands as a beacon of liberty & democratic strength...We are resolved to stand firm against those who would destroy the freedoms we cherish...this resolve is the highest tribute we can pay to the many who have fallen in the service of our Nation."--Ronald Reagan, 5/25/81
