If you can’t do something, saying no right away usually makes it much easier for everyone.

Slow motion equals no motion. Learned this at a young age via my Dad’s sage wisdom: “You can’t get any work done sitting on your a$$” Still think about this whenever I feel stuck. Ie. How & where can I take massive action on this problem? i.e. Pareto principle action

Early in your career say yes as often as possible. Later in your career. Say no as often as possible. Flips in your 30’s.

My biggest regret from 33-37 — not lifting weights 3x a week for 30-45 minutes. Can’t go back. Only forward from here.

More people need to hear… “Do something, even if you get it wrong” Then they do, “Get it right! Failure to make a decision. Is often worse than making the wrong decision.

When leading people: Treat every person like the leader you expect them to be 3 years from today. No exceptions.

Healthy things grow. If it’s not growing. It’s not healthy. Same goes for people.

Weigh in equals buy in. If you want buy in. Get your people to weigh in.

Visibility creates accountability. There’s nowhere to hide from a public scorecard. If it’s important, shine light on it.

Learning that you can just do things. Is its own form of a personal superpower.

My wife once called NASA. Two weeks later a scientist was in her classroom teaching about DaVinci and his flying things. Yes. You can just do things. Like calling NASA or pretty much anything else.

Praise people when they do praiseworthy things and you’ll get more and better of those things. This is leadership 101.

The biggest predictor of work happiness is non-work happiness.
