Staff Office of Transportation & Infrastructure Systems was very clear at the meeting that Option 2 would be safer. Especially in light of recent tragedy in the portion of Washington Ave that was watered down by Councilman KJ, I’m optimistic Councilmember Jamie Gauthier has the courage to make crashes on 48th/47th less likely.
The results are in: road diets reduce speeding by 25% and separated bike lanes reduce crashes by 18%. Office of Transportation & Infrastructure Systems Option 2 for 48th/47th includes both! Councilmember Jamie Gauthier let’s make it happen with safer streets!
It is all too easy for us as bystanders to despair in the violence, and get caught up in division and either dig in heels on one “side” or just get numb to it all. Another way: join together in fasting and prayer for peace, justice, and reconciliation. catholicnewsagency.com/news/255660/ca…
