Due to recent weather, the monthly test of the outdoor warning sirens scheduled for today will be postponed one week. The next test is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12th , at 11am. We encourage everyone to find time to review and practice your severe weather preparedness plan.

Monthly test of the outdoor warning siren system conducted today (3/12) at 11 a.m. While the monthly test is usually conducted on the first Wednesday of the month, this month's test was postponed to the second Wednesday (today) due to inclement weather last week.

The US National Weather Service Kansas City Missouri has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Johnson County until 3:30 pm. We could see up to 70 mph winds and nickel size hail.

Severe weather is expected late tonight through Wed. morning. The main threat will be for damaging winds and large hail although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Be sure to have a way to receive weather alerts as most of the severe weather will occur during the overnight!

Scattered storms are forecast to develop late this afternoon and this evening, mainly north of the KC metro. These storms will likely be severe, with damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes possible. More strong/severe storms are possible overnight across the rest of the area.
