Lovely day spent evangelising about land plant evolution at #festofnature22 University of Bristol University of Bristol Biological Sciences Festival of Nature Katie Jeal Ashley Pridgeon
Mine and Jill Harrison's Plant Physiology Update on shoot evolution is out now. Lots of fun speculating (mostly scientifically) on the nature of the ancestral land plant. academic.oup.com/plphys/advance… University of Bristol Biological Sciences
Thanks Laura Moody, Justin Goodrich and The Genetics Society for a great #nonseedUK22 meeting. So many enjoyable and inspiring talks. Who needs seed anyway (except for the occasional bean stew).

Our paper is out! 🥳🌿 We show that auxin transport regulates shoot branching architecture in the lycophyte, _Selaginella kraussiana_, suggesting that PIN-mediated auxin transport is an ancestral regulator of branching in vascular plants. Development journals.biologists.com/dev/article/15…
Gene duplication, transfer, and also loss have shaped the diversity of plants, my Tansley Insight is now out and open access :) It was great fun to write and I've heard it's even more fun to read!! Many thanks to New Phytologist for the opportunity nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/np…
