The answer is indeed the Baptist Standard! The paper was started in 1888 as the "Baptist News." Prior to 1914, the paper was privately owned by a succession of editors, including J. Frank Norris from 1907-1909. For more info, check out tshaonline.org/handbook/entri…

The answer is Joseph Bays! Bays came to TX in 1824. He traveled in & out of the state before being arrested c.1828/1829. As he was being transported to San Antonio for trial, he clubbed his guards & escaped. For more: tinyurl.com/yjwwyua2

#OTD in #TexasBaptistHistory in 1952, the "Baptist Building" in Dallas (at Akard, Ervay & San Jacinto) was dedicated. The BGCT, Relief & Annuity Board, and the Baptist Foundation of Texas jointly owned the building. It housed offices and a Baptist Bookstore.
