The wins in the Postdoc & AR tentative agreements are deeply inspiring. They show that the University does have the resources to pay people fairly & when we compel UC to bargain, incredible progress can be made. Now it's time for grad workers to win similarly unprecedented gains.

My abbreviated take on the #FairUCNow strike: there are big challenges in academia and UC isn’t solely to blame for that. But if one of the largest and best university systems in the world can’t figure out how to pay pre-faculty academics a living wage, what are we even doing?

Did not anticipate how relevant this would be for so many. Its really hard y’all.

This is spot on. Literally what I told my therapist this morning was that I am done with any extra labor on the UCs behalf. For students? Yes. For individuals? Yes. UCOP? Find another token trans person to sit on your fake DEI committees.

I also want to chime in as someone who is ace and in academia that likely will not have kids and not have to be burdened with parental care that it’s important for individuals who choose to not have kids or are inherently uninterested advocate for childcare support too. 1/

Finally getting some work from my PhD published 🥹 this was a long time coming, and certainly took a lot of people-power. Grateful for everyone & their hard work!

As much as I like being at Davis I definitely missed my UCR friends 🥺
