1 of 2 Lets hope so Alastair McIntosh. We'll be pulling out all stops to raise enough equity by the close of our fundraising round, 1st Nov, so that the time pressure evaporates. Then we move to all the MoU action points, many of which we and @tayinitiative have already progressed.
Claire Boardman Jeremy Leggett TAYi NatureScot Tayvallich Initiative Highlands Rewilding UK Investment Bank Community Land Scotland Well yes, the process is now in the course of being tested, and the test will be proof (or otherwise) of concept. There is a danger that it gives a let-out to landed power. But I am an evolutionary more than a revolutionary. I don’t see a better option that’s politically open.
Domhnall Macsween What ever the outcome of their current financial issues, the decision by Highlands Rewilding to buy the estate has been positive for the community. The community now owns land and still has a voice through the MOU, tenancies have been secured, jobs have been created etc 1/2
Hope @ScottishGovernment listens to the advice of Highlands Rewilding that 'fortune favours the brave’ Ready to step in, if necessary 'to move quickly to acquire land temporarily where there is strong community interest but the pace of sales poses a challenge' Scottish Land Commission 🤞
Kirsty Tait Highlands Rewilding Scottish Land Commission 1 of 2. Thanks Kirsty Tait . Somewhere in all our pushing of the envelope on community-centred nature recovery I passionately believe that there is a very good news outcome for the Communities of Place and the Communities of Interest involved.
In our case the Communities of Place are the three wherein most of the Highlands Rewilding team live and work. The Community of Interest is our shareholders, including a good few in our communities. Shared goal for most of us: nature recovery and community prosperity.
