I’m proud to join my colleagues in designating the 3rd week of September as Commercial Watermen’s Safety Week in Virginia. We honor the watermen who feed our communities, fuel our economy, and preserve traditions. Many hold union jobs that deserve protection and support.

Sunday afternoon, Moms Demand Action of the Peninsula held their Fall Picnic. Candidates for election were invited to share their campaign materials and a few words about their campaigns. It was pleasant afternoon!

What a wonderful morning at the Aberdeen Gardens Historic Museum for the Ramp Reveal & Celebration! With support from a Dominion Energy grant and joined by many community leaders and citizens, we celebrated improved accessibility while honoring our rich history here in Hampton.

I enjoyed spending the morning with the Peninsula Agency on Aging. We discussed programs and resources that help senior citizens thrive. I was grateful for the engagement, ideas, and commitment that everyone brought to today’s Meet and Greet.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This month, we stand with survivors and their families. Let’s continue to listen, support, and remind those experiencing abuse that they are not alone and that help is available.

I clicked my heels three times and said, “There’s no place like home.” When I opened my eyes, I was standing on the grounds of CNU for Captains Vote Day! It was wonderful connecting with students and organizations while encouraging everyone to make their voices heard and vote!

This week has been busy, but I was honored to accept Sheriff Bowden’s invit to serve as guest speaker at a Recognition Ceremony honoring those in the sheriff’s office who were promoted or retiring. Surrounded by family & friends, each honoree was celebrated for a job well done.
