Jazz - build backendless apps

@jazz_tools

Jazz is an open-source toolkit that gives you data without needing a database — plus auth, permissions, files and multiplayer without needing a backend.

I love doing adopter support calls for Jazz - build backendless apps "No you don't need to do that..." "This extra indirection isn't necessary..." "Yes, you can use CoValues as both UI state and the persisted source of truth - you don't need to copy back and forth" "No you don't need to 'save' "

Solo devs keep blowing my mind with the crazy apps they ship with Jazz. Hend is the perfect example: Instantly more fun than Duolingo. Learned 5 🇮🇹 words in-context, first try. One-shots text perfectly matched to your skill. Imports podcasts/video! Blazing fast micro UX ❤️

Megathread of everything we're announcing for Jazz - build backendless apps at Local-First Conf. It's been a hell of a year in the best sense and I can't wait to share what we've been cooking. (And this doesn't even include our "one more thing" 🤫) Stay tuned as I expand on details over the next

Local-First Conf is off to a fantastic start, the number of new people is mind blowing. For us at Jazz - build backendless apps, today was all about getting hands-on and helping people building cool stuff with Jazz - and handing out our first vibe coding certifications!

Love meeting new builders online me: “Hey Jazz supports ProseMirror now, we should build a ProseKit example or something” *minds my own business for 3h* ocavue: “here’s the example”

Sync engines are an incremental improvement to the "centralised server + client" model - the minimal possible step towards the real-time nature of apps today. But we can do much better 🧵

Streamed LLM responses are the perfect example of why we didn't base Jazz - build backendless apps on an existing DB, but are building a new backend + DB from scratch. Originally we just wanted to support Figma/Notion-like apps where we knew we had to sync 100,000s of tiny edits per second... 🧵

My full talk from Local-First Conf is up! Featuring 1y of progress on Jazz - build backendless apps. And: two big announcements, both previewed in the most sketchy, yet successful demo I've ever done. - Waffle, a Discord/Slack alternative built on Jazz - Soul, our upcoming AI toolkit for Jazz

You’re an engineer. You’ve got 5 hours. What can you build with a strong AI copilot? Codegen Speed Trials is a fast, focused hackathon to explore what’s possible with AI copilots—brought to you by TheGP, Graphite, Jazz - build backendless apps, Runloop, OpenAI & Anthropic. June 28 @

jenna Zero Zero is fantastic tech It deserves better evangelism than a deceptive “local-first == you have to sync everything” when so many in the space invest lots in partial sync: - Triplit | The fullstack database - Evolu | local-first that scales - Ink & Switch’s Beelay and of course (shameless plug) Jazz - build backendless apps

The brand of “local-first” is fucked💀 Between zealots arguing for a narrow, utopian interpretation… And sync engines benefitting from a fake tradeoff… Many in the space have given up calling themselves local-first. Jazz - build backendless apps will remain “subtly but proudly” local-first🧵

Tried Jazz briefly ・Passkey auth (Clerk available too) ・Auth hooks (useAccount) ・Easy image uploads ・Rich examples ・No usage limits during public alpha Not being async is actually pretty nice

I built a super simple online coworking room with Jazz. Just enter your nickname and what you're working on to join. It's incredibly simple and everything happens in real-time. Jazz - build backendless apps daily-space-ashen.vercel.app
