Shortest paths and isochrones using #openstreetmap walking and #GTFS public transit data, directly in the browser with #Rust, #WASM, #MapLibre. The accessible areas when you're right on a tube or major bus line look very different than a transit desert (relatively, for London)

I made a #Python decorator that immediately calls the function it decorates within a loop. I do not regret my decision. treyhunner.com/2024/06/a-beau…

NumPy 2 comes out tomorrow! Pybind11 2.12 supports it (since March), Numba 0.60 supports it (I just pushed the conda-forge numba 0.60 update earlier today!), PyTorch does, CuPy does, and many more. Some don't, like TensorFlow.

Happy to share my recent article published in the Annals of American Association of Geographers. This paper introduces GeoShapley as a method for measuring spatial/location effects in machine learning models. Open access: tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…. FSU Geography

Do you have a reason for using population-weighted centroids when measuring spatial accessibility? Find the reason in this article: doi.org/10.1111/tgis.1… The new article provides evidence as to why population-weighted centroids should be used over geographic centroids.

The single most undervalued fact of linear algebra: Matrices are graphs, and graphs are matrices. Encoding matrices as graphs is a cheat code, making complex behavior simple to study. Let me show you how!

How much traditional #GIS analysis can happen totally in the browser, using #flatgeobuf, #rust, #wasm, #openstreetmap, and a new The Alan Turing Institute project for collating census data? This is output area-level population counts intersected with a 10min walking buffer around the red route

Congratulations and many thanks to the mamba team on release of mamba v2.0.0! github.com/mamba-org/mamb… With "Removal of mamba Python codebase. Now mamba and micromamba share the same C++ codebase." seems like most micromamba workflows can now just be mamba. 👍

Fantastic news! 🎉🎉👏 Super happy to have a small part of this story and contribute to the R5 family via #r5py Python library and open source learning resources 😊
