Other view. Just a missle off a good 2seam at 87. Into the backside gap, boucing off the wall. Its a skill set that belongs in top 25 baseball

While going through some old stuff, I stumbled upon my notes from Phillies scout school. These notes were taken by a talk from former Twins General Manager Terry Ryan, who was serving as a special assistant at the time.

Driveline Baseball Position player aging and performance loss is largely due to bat speed loss, as Tangotiger 🍁's chart here neatly shows. Michael McCarry alluded to this the other day: Watch aging hitters suffer against elite FB velocity in the playoffs right now.

So, I might be a bit reactionary from time to time Heres the drill. Have them put a ball pinned between their pointer finger and the back of their glove Wack a ground ball at them Catch the ground ball.. The pinned ball pops out. Find it, fire to first McCarry bobble drill

Spin the wheel -When the group is warming up they spin for what ball they will use and what angle they will hit off. -Then before each round they spin for what bat they will use. -Why? Because hitters hit. -This is a fun way to switch it up and force them to make adjustments

Putting different bats into guys hands and telling them to crush one, immediately takes them away from internal focus. Making them focus on an external goal with an unfamiliar implement trains us to find a way to get the barrel on ball when the situation isn’t set up to succeed.
