Saw everybody posting this boundary collision, so I figured I should do one too! Here's the magical storm initiation boundary collision in synchronized PPI and pseudo-RHI (cross section).

After 42 days and 15,000 + miles driven, #ICECHIP completed 24 IOPs across 11 states, including within 75 miles from both the Mexico and Canada borders. This totaled more than 10,000 hailstones collected by our teams while data was gathered on different types of hailstorms!

This is a graph of the soil temperature under turf (grass) and under bare soil at 4 inches at the NDAWN Lefor station that had hail covering the ground last evening. Even at 4 inches below the surface the temperature of the bare soil dropped to under 40˚. Around 30

It's been clear last 3 days in Oswego. You can see how the peak solar radiation is decreasing (per NYS Mesonet at UAlbany site) as forest fire smoke moves overhead last day or two. #NYwx

Really proud of this. Final draft of my new hail event algorithm: - uses hail reports + radar to "fill in the blanks" - considers report-less swaths (grey) like "EFUs" - outputs tons of stats (including observed storm motion) It's a massive swath party and everyone's invited
