It's funny, I think about this sword duel more than most action movies I've seen in the past 10 years, despite the choreography being substantially less complex than so many modern equivalents. There's something to be said for keeping it simple and focusing on the actors.

Oh WOW. I know people are going to (understandably) focus on Eyes Wide Shut in 4K, but Howard Hughes' Hell's Angels is a wild addition to their lineup. Deeply insane movie, and that's before you look into the stories behind its production.

It's basically a fact that filming The Marvels was not a fun time for anyone involved, but seeing DaCosta candidly address Candyman's (2021) "lack of a really solid script" surprises me. Not because I like the movie (I don't), just that I never heard much about its production.

Ne Zha II plays like an adaptation of the video game Asura’s Wrath, but for children. That’s both a bit bad (fart jokes, pee jokes, vomit jokes), but mostly good (fantasy combat on an *enormous* scale, rendered in gorgeous detail). A slightly mixed bag, but the 2nd half is wild.

I mean... Yeah. I do think there's probably some international films from around the world in the 1970s that could, theoretically, top All That Jazz in a list like this, but if you're talking *American* movies in the 1970s? A completely reasonable winner.

The lead makeup artist in this clip, Larry Van Duynhoven, also worked on Together as its lead prosthetics designer. That's a way of saying that Larry Van Duynhoven is a name to keep an eye out for in the future.

There has always been a certain hostility towards arts criticism in culture. But the difference now is, those very type of people are in change of budgets & strategy, & thus, gleefully eliminating what they never understood. We live in a world where stupidity is celebrated.

Darren Mooney (@darren_mooney) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It does feel part of a broader push against the arts. You devalue the work of artists in favour of “content”, and you eliminate the people with the taste to distinguish the work of those artists from “content.” It’s a perfectly logical business strategy.

I fucking hate that my lizard brain snapped on like a lightswitch seeing this clip. I know it's one of the most copied combat systems in modern video games, but there's something so special about the early Arkham games, and seeing a Lego version is bringing me a lot of joy.

I remember this project from a long time ago. I'm kind of surprised that of the films Snyder's had in development, this is the one moving forward. An interesting detail is there's no distributor mentioned, and no mention of Netflix. Maybe another company puts this in theaters?

What should we remaster next? 🤔 "We started by asking Stephen Kick and Larry Kuperman what their remaining bucket list projects were. A few answers were shared, but one that stood out was Eternal Darkness, which is high up on Kick’s list." shacknews.com/article/145513…

Hear me out. I don't think these games are amazing, but the 2nd one had a pretty cool campaign and isn't backwards compatible. Seems like a good underdog candidate for Nightdive to play with, but I have no idea if Microsoft is willing to play ball.

Jesus Christ, they really are filming huge chunks of this movie like the completely inert bit in Multiverse of Madness where you can tell that each member of the Illuminati was shot in a separate room, especially whenever you see John Krasinski's blank expression.

I have no idea how a movie directed by Daniel Day Lewis’ son is going to turn out, but props to cinematographer Ben Fordesman (who lensed Love Lies Bleeding and Saint Maud) for shooting the fuck out of this. There’s some amazing imagery in here.

This is coming to Fantastic Fest this year. Cool to know they're using an animatronic shark for some of this footage, hope the whole movie rocks.

Caught this at Fantastic Fest last year. Some really interesting perspectives on Texas Chain Saw, I especially loved the Takashi Miike segment, but all of the segments raise interesting points and have a different point of view on the film.

I can’t prove it, but I feel like this headline alone did a lot to damage his reputation with the types of cinephiles online who would generate any type of noise, positive or negative.
