This morning I joined Senator Skoufis for our first Interfaith Breakfast in the City of Newburgh. Thank you to all our city’s faith leaders who came out and voiced their ideas and concerns regarding upcoming legislations.

Following the tragedies this past weekend in El Paso and Dayton, members of our community organized a vigil in honor of the victims. It's time to break out of the cycle of "Thought and Prayers" and pass National laws for common sense gun safety. It's time for action.

Many thanks to Robb Engle, Vice President of Sono-Tek for the tour of their impressive facility. Sono-Tek employs more than 60 high-paid workers and its commitment to new technology has made it a leader in the global marketplace.

This past Sunday, I attended La Guelaguetza, a traditional cultural festival from Oaxaca, Mexico. Poughkeepsie is nicknamed “Little Oaxaca,” as the City boasts the largest Oaxacan population outside of Mexico. Thanks to all who put on this beautiful event.

I was honored to attend the rally for the Purple Heart recipients in the city of Newburgh. It was a pleasure listening to Master Sergeant MaryKay Messenger sing the National Anthem, each military branch's official song, and finally “God Bless America.”

Last week, I stood in the pouring rain with Aileen Gunther, Jonathan G. Jacobson & hard-working nurses outside Vassar Brothers Medical Center, calling on management to come to the table & negotiate a FAIR contract that includes proper & SAFE staff-to-patient ratios. . . . NYSNA
