You can take the girl out of coaching but you can’t take the coaching out of the girl! I said goodbye to my role as a math coach this week but also ordered this book! 😂 Can’t wait to try the ideas out next year with our SJM teachers and Ss! LKDSB Elem Program Carrielyn Smith (she/her/hers)
Collaborating with Ts and intermediate Ss on how to ensure everyone meets their math goals has been great learning for all of us in the Intermediate Summer Program - hosted by Lambton Kent DSB LKDSB Elem Program Check out the Ss making use of known equivalents on triple number lines👇🏽Sense-making!
In summer learning this week students are connecting their understanding of fractions to percents… starting with known equivalents. LKDSB Elem Program @knight_sjm
Loved witnessing a proud teacher moment when watching Ms. LeFaive’s students clearly articulating decomposing percents to find an amount while also giving equivalent fractions in the Intermediate SLP. I’m pretty certain her reward is their learning! LKDSB Elem Program
Ms. Ellacott’s students were using their equivalent fractions to compare decimals this morning in the Intermediate Summer Learning Program! All of her students have been present everyday of the program! That’s commitment 🤩🤩🤩 LKDSB Elem Program
I have to tweet that I ❤️ being part of the Sir John Moore Community. So many examples the past 2 weeks of teamwork & commitment to students’ wellbeing and creating a supportive learning environment. And the Ss are ahhmm… the best Ss there are! #lkdsb Carrielyn Smith (she/her/hers)
Our students were learning about loops and conditional rules while programming their own game! Staff are all learning too! Special thanks to S. Fowler from Western Engineering. Thanks for Vicki Gray for supporting our partnership!
This is so important: Include everyone’s traditions! ❤️ Great suggestions from 🌍 Dr. Vαℓєηтιηα Gσηzαℓєz ♥️🙌🏽
Our Grade 1/2 students learned about friction and the engineering design process today with Western Engineering by designing and building their own toboggans. And the day ended with a toboggan race! ❄️🌨#lkdsb Vicki Gray Carrielyn Smith (she/her/hers)
#sjm Tech Club was meeting this morning: coding their own games, creating videos to show what games are in the Learning Commons, and prepping our virtual announcements. Thanks to our dedicated teachers: Mr Bourke, Mme Courtis, Ms. Finley, & Mme Cooke!! #lkdsb Carrielyn Smith (she/her/hers)
Blown away by Ms.Finley’s students sharing their division strategies today! They’ve been digging into division and you can tell! Notice the shout outs she does for students! Ms. Finley deserves the shout out! #lkdsb
Just making time to put together a net amongst all the other responsibilities of a teacher and extra tasks they take on. Love the ❤️s of SJM staff! @knight_sjm CdnTeacherLady | Tabetha #lkdsb
Check out Mrs. Fraser’s math class! Love how our SJM educators are right there with students, at their level, hearing their thinking, and supporting the learning! Also in pic: EA extraordinaire Ms. Thompson, and our amazing resource teacher Kristen Smith! Carrielyn Smith (she/her/hers) #lkdsb
Our first in person session with @fowlersamanthaa from Western’s engineering program had our students examining how sap moves through trees & how it is impacted by cold nights & warm days! They are proudly showing their learning ⬇️ Little engineers! Amy Fraser Vicki Gray
Ms. Steadman creates amazing bulletin boards at our school each month. This month’s focuses on Ribbon Skirts! Miigwech Mrs. Steadman for supporting all of our learning and for sending a special message when you and Mrs. McGee wear your ribbon skirts. ❤️ Vicki Gray
