Wide Days that was immense ❤ . So special having Brazilian vocalist Zé Leônidas join us for the first time all the way from Berlin. Thank you Edinburgh Festival Fringe La Belle Angele🙏 What a summer debuting new music and shows with an expanded line-up. This is only the beginning 👀

Probable juvenile Montagu's Harrier west 12:20 from Musselburgh seawall; lost towards Leith. Difficult to fully clinch it at distance but main features pointed to Monty's. Capping off a decent month's patching; other highlights Stejneger's Scoter & Curlew Sand Birding Lothian

Juv dark morph Pom Skua off Musselburgh seawall early afternoon, harrying gulls then heading east. Eventful start to the month here with up to 4 Little Stint, 4 Curlew Sand, Red-necked & Slav Grebe, + 17 Pale-bellied Brent at Esk Mouth yday (here's some of them) Birding Lothian

Yellow-browed Warbler at the wire dump, and another alongside a Pied Fly in the old campsite wood at Barns Ness this afternoon. A productive seawatch at Seacliff yesterday with 3 Sooty Shearwater the highlight, plus several Manxies and Arctic Skua moving through Birding Lothian

Arrivals coinciding nicely with my new camera setup. 350+ Barnacle Geese through on Tuesday at Musselburgh, with some colour-ringed birds on the scrapes. 4 Sooty Shear, 42 Manx, 8 Arctic Tern & 5 Arctic Skua also that day; and a Short-eared Owl at Aberlady on Sat Birding Lothian

The Musselburgh patch still produces nice birds, even when it's quieter. Two Whooper Swan on the scrapes on Friday, and one of two Med Gulls at the Esk Mouth in the last week. Also 2 each of Red-necked and Slavonian Grebe offshore, & close roosting Barnacle Goose Birding Lothian

Nice autumn arrivals at Musselburgh. Maximum of 12 Twite by the seawall, with 9 more at Barns Ness & vismigging 400+ Redwing on Fri. Late birds at Muss include 2 Ruff, Blackwit and Swallow, plus more seasonal 18 Whooper Swan (13 new lagoons) & showy Med Gull Birding Lothian

Smart adult Med Gull bathing near the Esk Mouth at Musselburgh this week Birding Lothian

This dapper Snow Bunting was briefly at Whitberry Point, Tyninghame this afternoon; also a Red-necked Grebe, 4 Puffin, Great Northern Diver, 20 RT Diver and 2 Arctic Skua in ideal still conditions offshore Birding Lothian

3 Little Auk on the sea off Fisherrow this afternoon were only my second record from the flat window. Also 13 Twite along the seawall Birding Lothian

Storm Darragh delivered two Little Auks off Musselburgh this afternoon; one alive and well and the other meeting a dramatic demise by a GBBG. Also Great Northern Diver west Birding Lothian

Honoured that my group Nimbus Sextet 's single 'Searching' has been included in Craig Charles' Craig Charles 's best releases of 2024 on BBC Radio 6 Music 🙏 . Check the single out via my website ☝️. Lots of love went into this; delighted it's getting more back ❤️

We can't wait to be back Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club on 28 May! Three part horn section, vocal guests and debuting brand new material. It's going to be so special! Tickets on sale now, grab yours quick (link in bio) !
