Fact about #garlic in Kenya: * 80% of garlic supplied in Kenya is Chinese * But if you produce grade1 local garlic, you can expand demand as much as you want * #Indians love local garlic better * To make a big one, plant biggest cloves - you can produce 2-3 times bigger bulb

【Kenyan vs Chinese Garlic】 ・The retailer at #NgalaFigTreeMarket sells only #KenyanGarlic ・ #Indians come every after 10 minutes to buy them! ・They say "I like local ones b/c of strong flavor" ・Whether they are white & round like Chinese ones is not important for them.

Imported garlic 149rtgs per kg. This week I went round looking for locally grown garlic could not find any. Locals are not growing it so supermarkets have no choice but to import. Planting season is between Feb and May, get ready, good income crop. You need pH 5.5 - 6.8 soils

Local garlic finally in store! I smiled this morning to finally see that our retail stores now have locally grown garlic and not imported. Kudos please keep supporting local farmers. Good price too. This is garlic planting season starting towards end of February. #farming

Garlic Farming! 🤔Why is our local garlic not embraced that much? 🤔What challenges come with this venture? 🤔Do our agronomists have deep understanding of this crop? FYI 🔺Kenya is a net importer of garlic since we only produce 2000 metric tonnes annually which is not enough

Garlic is one of those crops that tell you how badly indigenous varieties compete with imported varieties in the market The single bulb garlic is much more potent but who is buying it at that price? (Prices are per kg in KShs.)

Garlic has gone from 20 bob to 30 bob because of the dollar (we import garlic) Several Kenyans have Tweeted about trying to grow garlic and how difficult it is to successfully grow it repeatedly

When you go to the market. Buy B it's local garlic by our farmers. A is imported garlic. Don't buy it. Encourage our farmers to keep farming

For decades Kenyans have been hoodwinked by the political system. The script is always the same, someone is sacked, told to step aside, reallocated other duties, a motion of impeachment raised or even impeached, a few theatrical arrests, taken in for questioning, and paraded on

Cameroonians flooded the streets after voting with no placards but matchets, stones & others. Guess what! The authorities are scared to alter the election results. If Nigerians don't learn from this in 2027, it'll be game over for them & their Country.

Read Oyunga Pala's book on strength and sorrow. All communal rituals of strength are determined not by what is visible or invisible, but what is COMMUNALLY processed. As long as the process is experienced as a community, there is no risk of weakness. This is why anthropology
