One of the biggest issues with Turborepo is that it strictly caches based on inputs. Have a package that e.g. produces stubs? Full rebuild. Change a comment? Full rebuild. Easy fix to not rebuild dependencies if the output hasn't changed.

Senior devs have always found it easier to build alone vs work with juniors. The solution is you carrot the hell out of collaborative behaviors like mentorship and collab. Companies do this because they need the capacity. The problem rn is companies don’t believe it!

"Remarkably, the Gmail team has shipped a product that perfectly captures the experience of managing an underperforming employee." 🤣 too true

I don't think the tariffs are a good idea but find a lot of the arguments against them to be unsatisfying and short-term focused. Makes things like housing affordability seem increasingly intractable.

Writing a go or rust port of the typescript compiler or other well-defined program seems like exactly the sort of challenge an AI agent should be able to get good at. Curious why we haven’t seen success there yet?

“I was trying to solve this NP complete problem and it was going to take months! I dropped it into O3 and it completed in seconds and even explained its solution. Amazing!”

I earned $44 in a class action lawsuit against clif bars that alleges their label of “healthy” was misleading given the sugar content. So glad Erin Brockovich’s legacy lives on through these heroes.

Why is Charles Schwab Corp constantly trying to upsell their "voice ID" service so I can basically hand over my entire portfolio to any kid with a voice cloner? "Would you like to use ROT13 encryption as well?"

This is a great move from Vercel and a shot across the bow at Railway. Unfortunately memory ends up being the bottleneck.

learning ML in 2025 is extremely broken. you're either starting with 1960s useless perceptron slop or you're going straight to RAG without any foundation

Publicly celebrating amazing interns is great engineering culture. First it sets the tone that great work is appreciated by senior leadership, regardless of title. Second it lights a fire under the asses of senior ICs “an intern did this! what are you doing?” without saying so.
