The closure of #Penallta Colliery occurred #OnThisDay thirty years ago. Penallta was the last pit in the Rhymney Valley and one of the last in the south Wales coalfield. The occasion was marked by a farewell march from the pit down the hill into Ystrad Mynach. (1)
