The barrier to switching between Visual Studio Code/Cursor/ Claude Code Community/Cline is incredibly low. Interesting to see what happens to people selling inference below cost to gain marketshare. Long term, it seems like a really bad idea unless you are training a model or selling hosting.

Most impressive thing from today's GPT-5 release for me is the aggressive pricing: GPT-5: $1.25/million for input, $10/million for output. Chart from Simon Willison's write up comparing to other vendors.

GPT-5 and Claude Opus 4.1 are now in GitHub Copilot. Microsoft, with deep pockets, keeps steadily advancing Copilot and VS Code. Bearish for dev-tool startups with negative margins from selling inference.

When Iโ€™m between meetings sometimes I bake, Iโ€™ll often screenshot a recipe and ask ChatGPT to walk me through making it. The consistent format, ability to ask it questions and bonus tips are very handy. Todayโ€™s recipe is a Blackberry/Blueberry Cornmeal Tart.
