Looks so idyllic - behind the tranquil scene, blackening skies, chilly wind, punctures, blocked balers, the threat of rain. As we gather the bales late into the night I can see the flock in the field beyond, knowing they will be well fed this winter from our beautiful hay meadow

Someone didn't close the gate properly, not even on a footpath so these ewes took a wander!! Caused havoc with the weaned lambs. Don't presume you can just walk anywhere when your in the countryside. Luckily all safely returned to the field.. #herdwicks #countrysidecode #respect
