UK drops down list of affluent nations after decade of stagnation. Deindustrialization, austerity, low wages, profiteering, inequitable distribution of income take toll. Poorest in West Midlands worse off than counterparts in France, Malta, Slovenia. theguardian.com/business/2025/…

UK economy contracted by 0.1% in January. Can't build sustainable economy without improving the purchasing power of the bottom 50%. Need redistribution of wealth; not more austerity, real wage cuts, erosion of welfare & services. Abandon neoliberalism. theguardian.com/business/2025/…

Wish more Labour MPs would ask this question: "Why become a Labour MP if you are to vote for a policy that flies in the face of all that Labour has ever stood for?" We need more MPs like John McDonnell theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Lots of reports in the press today that Government is u-turning on plans to cut benefits. But only on freezing PIP. However, cutting eligibility to access PIP and cutting the LCWRA payment through UC are the more damaging policies for disabled people So keep lobbying MPs... 1/2

We’ve spent well over a year trying to get some basic information from the Cabinet Office. Who managed Sunak’s investments when he was prime minister? A judgment last week has put us within touching distance of getting the answers we’ve been looking for: goodlaw.social/3ych

Keir Starmer to drive through welfare cuts for UK’s severely disabled people, 600,000 claimants could lose out on an average of £675 a month. Awful, inhumane. No cuts to corporate welfare, won't tax the rich. People sacrificed to gods of neoliberalism. theguardian.com/world/2025/mar…

I look forward to seeing the judges reasoning on this. It seems obvious that giving money to a company, that has repeatedly failed to do the job it was paid to do is illegal. As well as bad business.

"Emergency" use of highly toxic insecticide allowed to protect sitka spruce plantations - which are themselves notoriously poor for biodiversity. Seems like bad news all round. forestryjournal.co.uk/news/25012739.…

Private equity bids for Thames Water “are conditional on further, and varying, regulatory support and accommodations being achieved”. Translation - bailout, bigger bills, no fines for sewage dumping, no restraint on dividends. Total Govt capitulation. theguardian.com/business/nils-…

Prem Sikka is a legend, one of the few much needed voices for progressive politics in a room stuffed with proponents of neoliberalism.

There’s a growing consensus across all wings of Labour Party, combined with deep anxiety in Trade Union movement & our political base in communities across the country that the disability cuts are wrong & there has to be a u turn sooner rather than later. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

For the last 40 years, Britain has repeatedly chosen finance over industry, austerity over investment and the rich over the poor. It's time to change direction.

BREAKING After a debate in Parliament, the Government has accepted my Private Members’ Water Bill. As of today: • Above-inflation water bill hikes suspended • Dividend payouts halted • Citizens’ Assembly on water ownership confirmed Democratic control of water is here!

UK govt is committed to handing £2.5bn to steel companies rather than nationalising. Companies will own the resulting assets, income streams. Govt will not take an equity stake, make the amount a repayable loan. It is free money. Why no questions about corporate welfare?

Too edgy for Private Eye? We recently ran the 1st of 3 ads in Private Eye magazine. But after our 1st they told us they wouldn't run any more. Did they give in to pressure from the shooting industry or another vested interest? Private Eye- too establishment for Wild Justice!

Mass starvation. Ethnic cleansing. Genocide. That is what our government is enabling — and it should be eternally ashamed. End all arms sales to Israel now.

Up until now we've focussed on fossil fuel companies . But companies are made up of people– and these people know that they are working against the interests of all life on earth . They need calling out .

In the UK I'm petitioning for a ban of fossil fuel ads and sponsorships– for too long these corporations have had unlimited £££ to greenwash their dirty reputations in schools , sports and everywhere in between – it must change govpetition.uk/700024

The moth trap will be running tonight RSPB Newport Wetlands and there promises to be a good haul of moths tomorrow morning after the warm weather of the last few days. The reveal should ptoe interesting and we may put out the Emporer Moth pheromone lure out to see if they are on the wing.
