How are #nucleosomes assembled? How can intrinsically disordered proteins chaperone histones? What happens at DNA double-strand break sites? We just added another important piece of the puzzle. Finally out Science Advances: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…. 1/n

I am happy to present today at IMSC2022 the recently published work done by the NEMS-MS team Anal Bioanal Chem. The section is Beyond MS. So I am hoping to have some fun questions as a follow up!

"Alain Aspect, our new Nobel Prize winner in physics, says that he has had time to conduct this research. In France, researchers lack time. They are devoured by bureaucratic activity. Let's trust them, let them work, otherwise they will leave."

In 2015, an article in @nature estimated that 800,000,000 USD is wasted annually on nonspecific antibodies. It also suggested standardization, which has not happened. I wonder how much we will spend in 2023 on low specificity antibodies.

Garbage in, garbage out 🚮 Unpopular take in this post-ChatGPT era but the fanciest AI/ML model is still only as good as the data it's trained on 💁‍♀️

Everyone who is happily reporting crazy ID numbers on Astrals, please read the @mjmaccoss paper carefully. It is very good. The 10% false (or at least non-quantitative) precursor IDs translates to even higher false protein level FDR. Let’s not go back to the proteomics circa 2001

Alexey Nesvizhskii @mjmaccoss Reminds me of this blog post proteomicsnews.blogspot.com/2023/06/potent… Could be a lot of PTM diagnostic ions. Or a lot of chemical noise that looks like them…

New paper from the group describing UniChromCD for time-resolved CD-MS data, especially with fancy demultiplexing strategies! Great work James "Skippy" Sanders and team! pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10… As always, the software is open-source and free

No result can be exciting without strong controls. Quality controls matter at very step, from sample collection to data interpretation.

Incredibly happy to share the recent study in which I contributed where we characterized cell-specific epigenetic erosion of developmental genes in HD mouse striatum. Congrats to Baptiste Brulé, Karine Merienne and all the team for this amazing work! 🖥️🔻 nature.com/articles/s4146…
