I'm back at the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley again, this time to tutor another British Gymnastics level 3 theory course. I love this course because it's a whole weekend centred around developing planning skills.

Often assistant coaches adopt body language that makes them look shy or withdrawn because they're simply not confident yet about how to get involved. Give them small but specific tasks right from the start of the class. Watch out for idle bodies!

I’m in the Northampton area for the first time on the weekend of 11-12 July. I’m available for club visits on Friday 10 or Monday 13 if anyone is interested.

Peer support for coaches is so very much needed! For those going down the competitive route, hours spent on the road, trips away, the pressure of high profile events can all be made easier if you have someone to share it with. We all need to offload sometimes. It's healthy!

Club managers; do you create staff spotlights? Reward programmes like 'coach of the month' are a great way to give thanks to those who are doing a great job. Reward someone going the extra mile, always delivering with a great attitude or picking up some great customer feedback!

Are you asking enough questions in your training sessions? Questions are a great way to engage with your athletes, build rapport and get them involved in the dialogue. Why should only the coach's voice be heard?

For a plan to be successful we need to get our thoughts organised, share it with those around us and get their buy in. We need all the support and help we can get to reach the end goal. I'm happy to help by leading a group workshop based on planning towards your training goals.
