Recess is a great time to take time to be creative. Today we changed up the shape blocks and brought out the glass blobs. Call them blobs and kids love that! Watching our Bears loving their play is pure happiness! Hannah Beach

Our Bears made a bowling alley today. It was one of those grown up moments when you stand back and say WOW! It cost me $42 to play. Apparently there was a student price too! Our Bears are working through so many skills as they play. Thank you Hannah Beach for inspiring us!

We tried something new at recess today! With the cooler weather we brought out the magformers because they are easy to hold while wearing mittens and gloves. We learned that they are such a hit and maybe an extra table will be a good idea. Woohoo to new ideas! Hannah Beach

It’s a pepperoni 🍕 and a chocolate chip cookie 🍪 It’s a beautiful thing to see what our Bears do with loose parts during play each day. The price was 10 rocks for this great snack! There’s so much learning through play each day. Hannah Beach I wish you could have a slice!

We tried something new today! We brought out more magnetic shapes & used them on the outdoor shed. Some may have ended up on the roof but that’s a whole story about what happens when you try to see how high you can get the magnets. We learn so much through play! Hannah Beach

Our table top loose parts are always a hit. The magnetic shapes are inspiring so much creativity. Our Bears made birds, towers, houses and so much more. Hannah Beach inspired us to rethink recess and we’ve learned so much together.

The ramps are muddy. That’s the sign of a happy play. We left them out so the rain can work its magic overnight. Nature is a beautiful thing. Hannah Beach

We added the BIG dominoes to the outdoor play options. It’s already a hit with our Bears. They are counting, building, creating, sharing and problem solving. That’s what recess is all about. Thank you to our friend Hannah Beach for inspiring us to rethink recess!

When we think about snow and play we can’t underestimate the incredible problem solving and critical thinking it inspires. One day of snow and our Bears shared so many great strategies and of course laughs! Monday was marvellous. Hannah Beach

Building using the milk crates, ramps and snow gives our Bears new opportunities every day! They don’t realize that they are solving problems, measuring, creating and collaborating. They think they are playing! They are & isn’t that beautiful! Play is essential! Hannah Beach
