The president is invoking the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), yet there is no genuine emergency—only one constructed by the administration itself through a series of executive actions. How is this possible in a democratic country?

All this tariff saga is not about manufacturing jobs anyway—it’s about consolidating power. Channeling the economy through himself, rewarding friends, threatening enemies, creating rent opportunities.
