On a different note, after another week of Reformed University Fellowship training surrounded by hundreds of ministers, staff, and interns committed to reaching students for Christ and equipping them to serve the church, I am feeling bullish on the PCA.

It's almost like the guy who wrote The Lord of the Rings was influenced by some mystical, eternal Truth that hits deeply at the core of human existence.

We're all out here complaining about how the God of the Old Testament is angry, destructive, and mean. Meanwhile Jonah is in the ACTUAL Old Testament complaining about how God is too "gracious... and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love" (Jonah 4:2).

If God said it, you really are allowed to believe it.

Somebody on here just critiqued Calvinism by calling it, "Judaism for Gentiles." And...i mean...like, yeah. That's kind of the point. God freely chose to engraft us into his "chosen race," "royal priesthood," "holy nation" (1 Pet 2:9).

If you're headed off to college soon, remember that 4 solid years at an average church will be much more beneficial to you than a few sporadic Sundays at an amazing church. God is at work even when you don't realize it.

Christianity is more about what God has done for you than it is about what you can (try to) do for God.

Jonathan Edwards (a Calvinist) argues that God's "glory" is His Trinitarian knowledge of himself, devotion to himself, and joy in himself. Jesus says He gives His glory to you (John 17:22). Through Christ you know God, love God, and enjoy God. That's how you glorify Him.
