Was so fortunate to be able to work on this project! Was one of the best experiences in engineering: amazing new tech, got widely deployed and influenced the industry. Best part was working with the amazing team we had!

I heard that Phil Anderson W0XI passed away recently. He was the first owner of the TNC maker Kantronics. Phil was a colorful character; I remember him (at a TAPR, AMSAT or ARRL conference in the 1980s?) putting forks in the ends of a pickle and connecting them to 120V AC.
