Our MSc student, Faith Nyathi is hard at work in the labs at British Geological Survey to obtain U-Pb isotope data 🇬🇧👩‍🔬🥼She'll be back in a couple months to work with scott maclennan and set up single zircon U-Pb in the isotope labs here Wits Geosciences Wits University

U-Pb isotopic ages obtained using TIMS are about 20-30 times more precise than LA-ICP-MS. TIMS data provide high time resolution, and allows us to potentially figure out the temporal relationship between the economically-important Bushveld magmas and the Rooiberg lavas 🌋 🥼 🧑‍🔬
