Just finished a training on LinkedIn Learning on Professional Communication and it felt a lot it should have been titled "Masking in the Workplace, How to Have Social Skills"

I'm working on a primary source & secondary source lesson for dual credit ELA students. I just deep dived into the history of the Ferris Wheel as an example of excess during the Progressive Era and I had such a good time. #librarylife

Tim Walz said it best: Censorship has no place in our libraries. The Hate U Give has been banned in numerous libraries—but that won’t stop me from sharing our truth. Our stories are meant to be heard. We will not be silenced.

I was working on a title for a conference session on a mashup between Silent Book Clubs and book annotations and reviews and needed session names. Decided to ask Gemini what they could come up with. I ended up with a good one but also this:

I can tell you when I worked in a district that has used Accelerated Reader in Elementary and Middle School had High Schooler who HATED reading. Being forced to read for points and grades is a KILLER of the intrinsic motivation to read for pleasure.

We get sent a report at the end of every month with every search our library catalog gets by day. I love to scan these reports because they fascinate me. Best search of September was "why pandas suck" which after checking, yielded no results. Guess they needed better keywords.

Dual enrollment, esp in TX where state universities are way more likely to transfer the credits, is such a great option for high school students. It opens their eyes to the expectations of academic work in a safer environment less high stakes environment. ccdaily.com/2024/10/deep-d…
