This is a really important victory. It's incredible how commonplace it is in HE and other sectors that people are denied even the most basic worker rights, and campaigns like this are really important in changing that. Proper Wednesday sunshine. ✊

This was an excellent campaign to be involved in, few things about how unique this win is: 1. Independent contractors in HE are far harder to organise than casual employees. 2. The post-restructure vision of Goldsmiths, University of London (such as there is one) aims to expand SC provision.

3. Along with the amazing victory at Royal College of Art UCU ✊ and the ongoing struggle UCU UAL, Goldsmiths SC Tutors win establishes a legal precedent for all other HEIs to be aware of. We can reverse the deterioration of worker rights.

.Goldsmiths Short Courses Goldsmiths UCU County Court judgement against Goldsmiths, University of London, who failed to appear (for 2nd time) in court for my case against them. Two judges angry & appalled at their conduct. They plainly care not for their tutors, likewise their reputation.
