In a disappointing but unsurprising move, Mayor Muriel Bowser once again decided to needlessly antagonize our DC Circulator members by vetoing emergency legislation unanimously passed by Council of DC and championed by Charles Allen . Enough is enough.

We would like to personally thank Phil Mendelson for his swift response in immediately scheduling an override vote and Charles Allen for his continued determination. We have confidence that the Council will do the right thing again and expect an override of the Mayor’s veto.

New Jersey Democrats have a huge reckoning ahead, one way or the other. This cycle has seen the closest presidential and gubernatorial in decades. They have been on autopilot for too long, nowhere more than in Passaic, which has only lifted a finger once— for its own majority.

LOL at this take. When Bernie lost primaries, those were stinging verdicts for the left. If he or Warren had been nominated then lost to Trump, that would’ve been a stinging verdict for the left. A moderate Dem running a conservative campaign and losing is…not the left’s fault.

It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them. While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they’re right.

What Dems notably failed to do is change the conditions for the decades-long decline of union membership. Bully pulpit, yes. Crucial legislative wins for many union workers, yes. But union membership and density continue to decline, and with it the Democrats’ electoral base.

One thing I think people miss about the fact that many deep red states approved economically progressive ballot measures is that a core difference between a ballot measure and a candidate is the ballot measure is going to do what it says.
