As defined by Gerardo Adesso in 2005 (journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/1…), the symplectic rank of a pure state is the number of symplectic eigenvalues that are strictly larger than the ones of the vacuum. In particular, the symplectic rank of Gaussian states is zero. 2/
