At a recent CDT Programme meeting, we confirmed that all 50 students recruited to the CDT have now successfully obtained an MRes in Geospatial Data Science. Great effort by all and huge thanks to colleagues at both Newcastle University and Uni of Nottingham #WeAreUoN for your contributions.


Today is the start of our 2025 Challenge Week and we are in sunny Doncaster! Many thanks to Knight Frank (Cameron presenting) for supporting our week which aims to investigate how data and analytic methods can be applied to support the UK Government's ambitious housing targets.


Today, we're at Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) who are helping us host a roundtable event looking at the future of Higher Education Geospatial Training in the UK, with representatives from over 30 organisations from across Government, Education and Commercial. Opening with our CDT Director, Professor Jon Mills from Engineering at Newcastle setting the scene for the rest of the afternoon. Perspectives also from Industry (Colin Murphy from Murphy Geospatial, a Woolpert Company) Education (Claire Ellul from @UCL) and Professional body (Catherine South from Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)


Our Director Uni of Nottingham #WeAreUoN, Professor Stuart Marsh is leading a roundtable discussion asking partners what UKHE can do to provide their future workforce. There is a strong market for HE (and FE) to create and deliver new training but it starts by inspiring future students.


Final session, led by Jon, asking how we can work together to inspire, train and employ future experts as well as existing professionals. This afternoon has shown there us huge enthusiasm for future of geospatial programmes at both Newcastle University Uni of Nottingham #WeAreUoN
