I'm excited that I had the opportunity to review Prof. James Uden’s book "Spectres of Antiquity: Classical Literature and the Gothic, 1740-1830" (Oxford, 2020). Anyone interested in the merging of Antiquity and Gothic Literature should read it! bmcr.brynmawr.edu/2021/2021.10.0…

Walking in street, my ears pick up random spoken sentences. Instantly, the same sentences form up in visual mind as strings of alphabet characters. If the miracle of language is not the only distinction that advances us over other apes, it almost seems like a sufficient one

Midnight's approaching and I'm here wondering: Why do raspberries go bad so quickly? Blackberries last way longer, while blueberries are practically immortal.

Delighted that my article on Thomas Ligotti got published in the literary journal Vastarien, which has played, and still does, a major role in the study of Ligotti’s work and Weird Fiction in general. @GrimscribePress

What a ridiculous country Pakistan is. And they have nuclear weapons. What physicist would stoop so low? The leading villain was the late Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, also infamous for selling nuclear secrets to North Korea, Libya and Iran. bit.ly/3nNyMON

Fascinating article by Philip Hardie on one of my favourite heroes from Greek mythology, the boy who dared to drive the Sun's chariot, Phaethon. antigonejournal.com/2021/11/phaeth…

Yuri Knorozov, the linguist who deciphered the Maya script, listed his cat Asya as a co-author on his work but the editors always removed her. He always used this photo with Asya as his author photo and got pissed whenever editors cropped her out

Professors & students self-censor for fear of mob-rule punishment. We need a critical mass, enough people daring to confront the yelling thought police. University bosses, stop your cowardice. Do your job. Back free speech. Protect academic freedom. bostonglobe.com/2023/04/12/opi…

I don't know when or how exactly it happened, but I've shifted from "how am I going to fill a 20-min talk" to "20 min just aren't enough". #make30mintheminimum
